CUT & FILL CALCULATIONS

CUT & FILL CALCULATIONS

Topographical Surveys

Volumetric Calculations

For earthworks projects, the most critical step is to calculate the volume of earth that needs to be moved so one can estimate the cost. Most earthmoving projects are either excavation or embankment work (Cut & Fill), which refers to moving soil and making a specific form by cutting and filling.

Accurate surveys allow the calculations to be made with confidence. With information from the survey, volumes can be determined.

Volume surveys are used to measure the volumes and contents of the material. Typically, this information is collected on a survey sheet which is then transferred onto the drawings. The volume calculation is done using professional software and surveys of the area.

Accurate surveys and calculations lead to accurate budgets, which are essential for any engineering project.

Engineering Surveys

At Geo Cart, we provide a comprehensive range of engineering surveys for construction, renovation, and repair projects. Geo Cart’s engineers are experts in engineering surveying, and mapping.

To ensure accuracy, the staff at Geo Cart are trained in various areas, including GPS, TotalStation, Laser Scanning, GPR Underground Surveys, surveying techniques, and drafting software application skillsets which allow them to generate topographic and underground utility maps. This enables our engineering surveys to be highly accurate, which is critical for successful projects.

Setting Out

Accuracy is Everything

Although these surveys can be time-consuming, it’s essential to do them right the first time so that you don’t have to return later and spend money on additional engineering surveys. Understanding the area you are working in ensures the safety of your team and minimises the problems you will face during the project.

You need to know if your work will interfere with any water or sewage pipes buried in the area, as well as identifying the location of any electrical cables or gas lines that may have been installed there since the last engineering survey was done.

We provide the engineering surveys your project needs.
